Cattle Details Download
This screen allows you to download details of some or all of the animals on your holding, including their movement histories, to a file on your computer.
To select the animals whose details you want to download, click on the arrow in the ‘Eartag’ box in section 1, then click on an eartag number in the drop-down list, and click the ‘Add to list’ button. If you have uploaded a list of the animals whose details you want to download, they will be already listed in section 2. You can add more animals to the selection by using the drop-down list in section 1. A maximum of 50 animals can be selected.
You can delete an animal from the selection by clicking on the circle to the left of the eartag number in section 2 and then on the ‘Delete eartag’ button. To delete the whole list click on the ‘Delete all’ button.
When you are happy with the list, click the ‘Validate and get data’ button. A message will appear when your data is ready to download. Click on this to download the file.
Understanding the Cattle Details downloaded file
Your downloaded file is in the form of a spreadsheet. The first row is a ‘header’ and shows the date and time of the download.
Column A shows the name of the file. This is repeated on every line.
For each animal there are at least three, and perhaps many more, rows of data. Each animal’s records begin with an Animal Details record and end with a Control record. In between, there is a Movement record for each movement the animal has made, including birth (or import or placement). There may also be other types of record if relevant.
The entry in column B tells you what type of record is in each row, as follows:
- H = Header
- A = Animal details
- M = Movement
- O = Movements suspense details
- C = Control record
- T = Trailer record
The last row in the spreadsheet is a ‘trailer’ and shows the number of individual records in the file.
