You can save information from CTS on your computer in two ways. You will be asked to state where you want to save the file on your computer.
If you want to download the details and movement histories of some or all of your cattle, you can start by uploading a list from your computer as described above. Or you can click on the ‘Cattle Details Download’ button to be taken to another page where you can select the animals from a list. More help on this is available on that screen.
If you want to download a list of all the cattle on your holding, including animal details but excluding movement histories, click on the ‘Cattle on Holding Download’ button.
The file will also contain any transactions that you have recently sent by CTS Online which have not yet been picked up by CTS. This may include births, deaths of unregistered animals, deaths of registered animals and movements on or off your holding. It will also show any birth or movement registrations which have been processed by CTS but have a problem.
Your downloaded file is in the form of a spreadsheet. The first row is a ‘header’ and shows the date and time of the download. Below the header you will see rows with an A in column B; these are animal records. These may be followed by one or more rows with Q or M in column B. Q indicates a birth registration which either has not yet been processed or has a problem. M indicates a movement registration which either has not yet been processed or has a problem. Finally the last row is a ‘trailer’ and shows the number of individual records in the file.
The type of information found in columns C to K depends on the type of record – A, Q, M or T. The contents of the columns for each type is as follows.
Record type A or Q
Record type M
Record type T
You can find further information on this data in the CTS Online technical specification, which you can get from Information for Keepers on the main menu.
