This page shows the details of a specified animal and its movement history as recorded in CTS.
To view an animal, enter the eartag number in the box and click on the ‘Search’ button.
If the eartag number you enter does not match any animal in CTS exactly, one or more near matches may be shown. To select one, click on the circle beside the eartag number and then on the ‘Select’ button.
This shows the details currently held in CTS about the animal – date of birth and sex. If you are, or ever have been, the recorded keeper of the animal, you will also see the animal’s breed and the identity of the genetic dam, sire (if recorded) and surrogate dam (if applicable). The details should be exactly the same as those recorded in the animal’s passport.
The passport version number shows whether the passport (or Certificate of Registration) has been issued and how many times (if any) it has been amended or re-issued. If the version number is 1, the passport has only been issued once. If it is higher than 1, it has been amended by BCMS (if some of the original details were incorrect) or re-issued (because the document had been lost or destroyed). If you are the current keeper of the animal, you may wish to check that the document you have is the latest version, as no others are valid. If the version number is 0, the animal has an old-style passport (CPP1). If the version number is blank, the passport has been refused. If you are the current keeper of the animal and you do not know why the passport has been refused, please contact BCMS – see Contact BCMS on the left hand menu.
If there is a problem with the details
Any problem with the animal details will be highlighted in red. If you are the keeper of the animal, please check these details and use the information box to let BCMS know of any corrections or additional information.
If the animal is female and you are the keeper or have been in the past, you can click on the ‘View Calving History’ button to see the dates (if any) when it has calved and whether it was the genetic dam or surrogate dam. You will not be able to see the identities of the calves or their birth locations.
This shows the animal’s movement history as recorded in CTS. The movements are listed in date order.
The amount of detail you can see depends on whether the animal is on your holding or has been in the past.
If there is a problem with the history
Any problem with the movement history which BCMS is aware of will be highlighted in red. If you are the keeper of the animal, please check these details and use the information box to let BCMS know of any corrections or additional information. You may be able to find the information you need in the animal’s passport or your farm records.
If there is a problem which is not highlighted – for instance, you know that some of the information shown is incorrect – please click on the ‘Report Problem’ box at the bottom the page and let BCMS know.
