The information you enter on CTS Online is checked for errors. You can see a list of checks below. If you receive a warning or an error message, please check that the information you entered is correct and free from typing errors. If the information is correct, you may accept the warning and continue but BCMS may need to contact you if there is a problem.
You must enter an eartag, which is in the List of Available Eartags and is not already waiting to be submitted.
You must enter a valid date of birth which is less than 183 days ago but not in the future. If the date of birth is more than 27 days but less than 183 days ago, you will see a warning which you may accept.
You must enter a valid breed.
You must enter the sex of the animal as male or female.
You must enter a genetic dam.
If you entered a surrogate dam, it must match one of the entries in the list of available dams. The surrogate dam eartag you entered must not be the same as the genetic dam.
If a warning is displayed in section 1, the ‘Add to list’ button will change to ‘Confirm/Add to list’. You can leave the details as they are and select ‘Confirm/Add to list’ which will add the birth with warnings to section 2 or you can amend the details then select ‘Confirm/Add to list’.
If you select to edit a birth with warnings from section 2, the row selected will be highlighted and moved to section 1 for you to edit the details. A ‘Confirm/Replace in list’ button will be displayed along with a ‘Cancel Edit’ button. You can edit the details and select ‘Confirm/Replace in list’ button which will replace the row selected in section 2. If there are any additional warnings these will be displayed in section 2.

Date of birth
Breed
Sex
Genetic dam
The eartag number must be valid for use. This means you should have ordered double eartags for this holding and have not cancelled this order.
You must enter a valid date of birth which is less than 183 days ago but not in the future. If the date of birth is more than 27 days but less than 183 days ago, you will see a warning which you may accept.
You must enter a valid breed.
You must enter the sex of the animal as male or female.
If you have entered a surrogate dam then birth dam checks will apply to the surrogate dam, otherwise they will apply to the genetic dam.
The following checks are carried out on the birth dam.
The sire must be a male animal on CTS (if the ear tag has a UK prefix). If the ear tag does not have a UK prefix then the entry will be accepted.
